Greene, an expert on string theory-which views matter in a minimum of 10 dimensions and tries to bridge the gap between particle physics and nature's fundamental forces, questioned this scenario. To punch a hole into the fabric of space-time, Kaku explained, would require the energy of a star or negative energy, an exotic entity with an energy of less than nothing. The gasoline necessary to energize a time machine is far beyond anything that we can assemble with today’s technology.” “Wormholes are the future, wormholes are the past,” said Michio Kaku, author of “Hyperspace” and “Parallel Worlds” and a physicist at the City University of New York. Matter can travel through either mouth of the wormhole to reach a destination on the other side. The regions bridged could be two completely different universes or two parts of one universe. The most developed of these approaches involves a wormhole-a hypothetical tunnel connecting two regions of space-time. “In this four-dimensional space-time, you’re only able to move forward in time,” Liu told LiveScience.Ī handful of proposals exist for time travel. But time doesn’t share this multi-directional freedom. Mathematically one can go backwards or forwards in the three spatial dimensions. The bending of space-time causes objects to move on a curved path and that curvature of space is what we know as gravity. “That dimple is a manifestation of space-time bending to accommodate this mass.” “When something that has mass-you and I, an object, a planet, or any star-sits in that piece of four-dimensional spandex, it causes it to create a dimple,” he said. Space-time, Liu explains, can be thought of as a piece of spandex with four dimensions. So I continue to float peacefully, in a space filled with the unknown, called Life.“Space and time are tangled together in a sort of a four-dimensional fabric called space-time,” said Charles Liu, an astrophysicist with the City University of New York, College of Staten Island and co-author of the book “One Universe: At Home In The Cosmos.” However, a feeling of joy fills me up, knowing that I’ll always have my happy memories to cherish and my saddest memories to learn from. So I jump from the time capsule, not knowing where I am nor where I’ll end up. If I go and relive that special moment, I realize it won’t be that special tomorrow.
#GO BACK IN TIME HOW TO#
If I go back and fix myself my broken heart in a way that it never breaks, I suddenly don’t see a future where I know how to appreciate the right person for me. If I go back in time and change that awful thing I think about in the shower every night, I wouldn’t know the feeling of fulfillment when I took the action and did the right thing. I know I can make it for the better, so what am I afraid of? And it hits me like a meteor. I get this awful feeling of unsettlement in me. Knowing there won’t be anything ugly about it.Īll of a sudden I realize, I’m going back in time. I could just see myself looking through the window of yesterday, relieved knowing It won’t exist the way it does today. If there was a time capsule I would step in it and went back this second. It seems like such a wonderful thing to wish for. What would happen? Would we be satisfied? Reliving happy memories and changing bad ones. It seems we need to work together with it rather than against it.īut what would happen if we could control it? If we could go back and erase a painful memory? If we could go and fix a mistake we made? If we could go back and relive a moment we are so nostalgic about? We can’t touch it but it leaves a mark on us. We can’t see it but it runs out before us. Would you go for a couple of years back? Or just a couple of days back?

What would you do? If you could go back in time.
